Lake Manyara is a compact park below the Rift Valley escarpment. Its groundwater forest, open lakeshore and seasonal birdlife make it a useful addition to shorter itineraries or a travel day between Arusha and the Ngorongoro highlands.
What to expect
Wildlife conditions vary with water levels and season. The park is best treated as a distinct habitat experience rather than compared directly with the Serengeti.
